BC-30 is an RDC-3. An RDC-3 includes a Railway Post Office (RPO),
a baggage compartment and seating for 44 passengers. The two large
doors toward the front of the car open into the RPO and baggage area and
the passenger seating is located toward the rear.
Budd Company of Philadelphia produced five basic RDC designs:
RDC-1, an all passenger configuration, RDC-2, a RPO/passenger combination,
RDC-3 as shown here, RDC-4, a shorter car without passenger seating, and
RDC-5, an all passenger car without control cabs. |
