SisterBetty.orgRail Tripping
My love of railroads is equaled only by my love of naval ships.  Having spent years in the Navy, I grew fond of the ships I served on.  All of those ships are razorblades now (radioactive razor blades I suppose, as I was assigned to nuclear powered ships).

Just past Martinez, the train passes the mothball fleet in Suisan Bay.  Navy ships, some dating back to World War II, rest in the bay, waiting for to be scrapped or, if they are lucky, donated to a museum somewhere.  I recognize some of the cruisers from when they were still active in the Navy and so was I.

More plentiful than Navy ships is the rental car fleet, huge parking lots of car waiting for tourists who really should be riding trains.
