The depot is a tiny building constructed next to the track.  A sign at the ticket counter claims the train is sold out, but the crowd waiting to embark seems insufficient to support this claim.  I called the night before to make reservation and my ticket is waiting at the counter.

Compliment #1:  Operating a railroad is an expensive venture.  Most tourist lines barely manage to cover expenses with pricey tickets.  Even so, I may still wince when paying $40, $50 or $137 for a ride. Wilton Scenic's $12 round trip fair is extremely reasonable by comparison.  The line even offers box lunches delivered to your seat for a paltry $7.  [Continue...]
