RDC Tour : VIA Rail: Exterior

RDC 6148 is one of a fleet of RDCs owned by VIA Rail.  Refurbished in 2002 in Moncton, New Brunswick, on the eastern coast of Canada, the car traveled more than 3,600 miles to report for duty on Vancouver Island.

The Budd Company of Philadelphia built nearly 400 RDCs before ceasing production in the late 1950s.  Some of the cars continue in service well after the turn of the century.  Colorado Railcar now markets a similar concept vehicle.
