RDCs can be coupled together to operate at train sets.  Doors at either end of the car open for access to other cars or lock to form closed vestibules.

RDCs are designed with identical control equipment on each end of the car.  One end of the car is designated "A" and the other "B".  This photograph shows the view from the "A" end of RCD 6148.
